TONGI BAZAR AREA
Tongi is one of the famous place in Bangladesh in Gazipur. It is a significant place for holding the 2nd (second) biggest muslim congregation, Known as the "World Estema" as well as an industrial area. But this densly populated area was not in the same aspect about hundred years ago. The place has another familiarity known as the town of "Sonavan" It is said that a saint named Sonavan came here with 20 disciples to preach islam and to devote himself in the meditation of Allah. At that time this area was dominated by the Hindu Zamnidar. The place was full of many forest and those forests were infested with many wild animals. Subsequently, with the devlopement of communication this place has been tunred into a populated area. People coming from the rural area amassed in search fo livelihood and for the betterment of the student life. Now Tongi is a known as the first class municipal area.
BAITUS SALAM JAME MOSJID (BAZAR MOSQUE)
Mosque is a holy and important place for Muslim. It has great religious value. In tongi there are many mosques. Among them the biggest mosque known as "BAZAR MOSQUE" is very beautiful. It is situated beside the Highway of Dhaka-Mymensingh. The mosque has great beauty both inside and outside. One thing that draws the attention of the people of the long minerate of the the mosque. It is one of the top roof. The spite is very beautiful to look at. It's external covering is decorated with small twinkling stars. The stars have been created by setting pieces of chinaware. Seen from the front and from far it looks as if shining above the surface of the earth. The lower wall of the spire decorated with lovely manic and excellent tiles with many floral patterns. Taking all things into consideration the spire of the mosque make beautiful not only the mosque but also whole area.
TURAG RIVER
Turag river is one of the main river of Tongi. It lies beside the Tongi Bazar. There are many boats and trollar run by this river. The people of opposite site of the river come to Tongi Bazar and students come to school by the boats. Trollar carry fresh vegetables and fish from the different places and villeges in the bazar market.
